My name is Joel Adria, and I love combining creativity with technology. With a variety of experience in Web, IT, Photo/Video, and Tech Theatre, I love to take on new projects that allow creative thought to merge with the cutting edge.

I am currently a student at the University of Alberta in Technical Production.

Education

University of Alberta, BFA Technical Theatre (Production)

Completed Year 3 of my degree in April 2012, key projects include Sound Design for Juliet, and Stage Carpentry for Catalyst/Studio Theatre’s worldwide debut of Whisper.  Other credits include Stage/scenic carpentry in Equus and The Changeling, active work in the LED Lighting Research Group, and projection design for the annual Portfolio Show.

Harry Ainlay High School – Class of 2009

Served as a leader of the Video Team and Technical Theatre group, providing a diverse set of services to the school, including work on main stage productions, one act plays, special events and sporting ceremonies.

Awards

Roger S. Smith Research Award, University of Alberta – 2012

Research award granted to students pursuing undergraduate research in the Faculty of Arts during the Summer. Granted for continued work on the Wave Interactive Media project.

Dean’s List, University of Alberta Faculty of Science – 2010

Achievement granted to students with outstanding marks in their field of study.

Recognition of Service, Edmonton Public School Board – 2009

A distinguished district-wide award granted to students who exhibit outstanding service to their school and exemplary leadership, chosen out of thousands of student across the city.

G.P. Nicholson Male Citizenship Award, Harry Ainlay – 2009

One of two major leadership awards granted to a graduating student, who exhibited exceptional service and leadership to their their school and in the community.

Grade 12 Drama Award, Harry Ainlay – 2009

An award granted to top students involved in the Harry Ainlay Drama department.
